Are you a Qualified Mental Health Professional looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a team that will help you to develop and achieve your goals? Oldham Urgent and Emergency care by appointment is recruiting for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner.
UECA (urgent and emergency care by appointment) offers urgent appointments (within 72hrs) to service users who require a prompt response, following attendance at A& E, contact with the Joint Response Vehicle, contact with the Pennine Care 24hr Help-Line their GP and NWAS.
The purpose of the UECA service is to ensure people receive the right care and treatment in the right place, at the right time. The service aims to alleviate pressure on A& E departments by diverting those service users whose clinical presentation does not require an immediate assessment within the A& E system, but there is an identified clinical needfor an urgent assessment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will ensure all service users have access to a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment to meet their individual needs, including making any necessary onward referrals.
You will provide a high standard of clinical assessment ensuring that there is a collaborative agreed plan made with every patient assessed and that this is articulated to the patient's GP and any other relevant service/team.
The service operates 8am-8pm, 7 days a week and posts will be on rotational shift basis.

* Screening and triage of all referrals into the UECA service and offering rapidassessments based on clinical need and risk
* Undertake robust mental health assessments for people referred utilising your highly developed clinical skills, assessing mental health using a biopsychosocial model and completing risk assessments collaboratively to ensure a safe discharge with onward referrals and appropriate packages of care.

Education / Qualification
Essential
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) / Social Worker / OT with current registration
* Short courses and experience to post graduate diploma level
* Completion of Preparation for Mentorship / Practice Teacher / Fieldwork Educator qualification or willingness to complete
* Evidence of ongoing / recent CPD
Desirable
* Non-Medical Prescribing
* Brief psychosocial interventions
* Educated to degree level
* Training related to management skills, teaching, staff development
Experience
Essential
* Substantial post registration experience at Band 5 or above
* Proven experience of working with clients with complex needs
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in mental health care with complex cases
* Experience of working to objectives and meeting deadlines, within a performance management framework
* Demonstrate a working experience of a range of assessment tools for a range of mental health conditions

Ability to undertake Bio / Psychosocial assessments across a range of patient groups and age profiles Ability to formulate clear discharge plans across a range of patent groups and age profiles Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a wide range of people including patients carers and other professionals Ability to work autonomously, prioritise and manage own workload Good organisational, problem solving and time management skills and an ability to work under pressure Ability to supervise staff, set standards, monitor performance and promote staff development Have IT literacy skills Possess a positive attitude to change and commitment to service development Be able to work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team
