NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. The shift pattern for this position is within 5 over 7 days to include night shift and weekends.
An exciting opportunity is now available within the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde for a motivated and skilled Maintenance Technician (with a mechanical bias). The position is based at Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s laundry unit at Hillington Industrial Estate in Glasgow.
The post requires applicants to have completed a recognised and registered apprenticeship in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering equivalent to SVQ Level 4 Higher National Diploma, Modern Apprenticeship – Level 4, Professional Development Awards (SCQF – 8-9). You should have a proven track record that demonstrates your practical core skills and application within your trade.
The necessary qualifications and/or experience are described in the attached Job Description.
It would be desirable to have:
* A level of knowledge, understanding and experience of complex electrical/engineering systems in large healthcare premises. This includes a good understanding of new boiler technology and controls, PLC controls and Compressed air systems.
* Experience and understanding of industrial laundry machinery & operations would be advantageous.
The successful applicant will also have responsibilities to assist with training and education of apprentices and adult trainees ensuring they gain the necessary training and experience to meet the needs of their training program. This will also include some work with managers to identify and set up the training programs.
This role is eligible for a pay enhancement due to shifts and weekend work.
