Lynx Recruitment is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to join our prestigious client, a well-established logistics and distribution company based in the South West region.
About the Role:
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated Workshop Manager with CPC certification to take ownership of fleet operations for our client. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with transport regulations, managing a team of drivers, and overseeing vehicle maintenance schedules while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and develop a team of professional HGV drivers, fostering a culture of safety and compliance
Maintain the company's Operator's License and ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations
Monitor and manage drivers' hours, tachograph records, and working time directive requirements
Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules, including inspections, servicing, and MOTs
Lead health and safety initiatives within the transport department
Liaise with customers to ensure service expectations are consistently met
Analyze and improve KPIs related to fleet efficiency and performance
Manage transport-related budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
Handle driver recruitment, training, and development
Respond effectively to any transport-related incidents or emergencies
Requirements:
Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification (National or International Road Haulage)
Proven experience as a Transport Manager or in a similar senior role
Comprehensive knowledge of UK transport legislation and DVSA requirements
Experience managing driver compliance and vehicle maintenance systems
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
Health and Safety knowledge (IOSH qualification desirable)
Computer literacy with experience of transport management systems
Strong communication skills and customer service focus
Desirable:
ADR knowledge/qualification
FORS/CLOCS familiarity
Experience with digital tachograph analysis systems
Fleet management qualifications
