Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant post to join the Vascular Service within Swansea Bay University Health Board. The posts will form part of a team of 10 consultants responsible for the provision of the full complement of vascular surgical servicer to the South West Wales Regional Vascular Network.The network provides vascular services to the population of South West Wales. This comprises a population of circa 1 million, across a large geographical area, stretching from Bridgend in the East to Aberystwyth in the North West. This area includes four health boards (Swansea Bay University Health Board, Hywel Dda University Health Board, and parts of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and Powys Teaching Health Board).We have close links with Swansea University and other University College partners in South Wales especially in the areas of research and development and multi-professional teaching.We place great emphasis on continuous professional development and will actively support you in the development and achievement of personal goals. Main duties of the job The Vascular Network delivers outpatient and diagnostic services at seven other sites across SW Wales, providing local access. Day case procedures are carried out at three sites and all emergency and major elective work for the network takes place in Morriston Hospital, Swansea. This post will take part in a 1:9 on-call rota based on a model of Surgeon on call and Surgeon of the week responsible for vascular surgical inpatient care in Morriston Hospital.
