Business Development Manager
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Commission + Car Allowance + Great Benefits Package!
Location: Remote, with attendance to Cambridge on occasion
Contracted Hours: Full-time / Permanent / 40 hours a week
Overview of Role
Are you a dynamic and driven professional Business Development Manager looking to make a significant impact in the high-voltage power sector? Join our team as a Business Development Manager ! Reporting directly to the Power Business Unit Director, you will play a crucial role in generating new business opportunities and expanding our presence in both the ICP and DNO sectors. If you have a proven track record of identifying and securing new business, building long-term client relationships, and presenting technical solutions in the Electrical Sector, then we want to hear from you!
Business Development Manager Key Accountabilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the high-voltage power sector
Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers
Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and provide technical advice to support their requirements
Collaborate with the estimating team to prepare quotes, bids, and proposals
Attend industry events and exhibitions to promote the companys services and expertise
Achieve and exceed sales targets
Provide regular updates to the Board on market trends, competitors, and new business opportunities
Key Skills
Develop and manage your own pipeline of work as a Business Development Manager
Visit contacts and clients to strengthen key client relationships
Create detailed proposals and quotes tailored to clients and projects
Act as an intermediary and diary organiser between the client and the appropriate director or technical lead when needed
Regularly follow up on quotes with potential clients
Prepare bids and tenders
Update the finance and production sheet daily, ensuring leads progress through the pipeline to conversion
Assist the Operations Director/team in planning for new work coming through the pipeline
Nurture leads by sending relevant thought leadership materials and invitations to hosted events
Report on pipeline progress weekly
Collaborate with the marketing team to create marketing collateral that aids conversion
Serve as a front of house representative for the company, managing projects through to handover to the project team, and facilitating client introductions
Attend networking events to better understand the industry and build connections
Core Behavioural Competencies
Strong technical knowledge of high-voltage construction projects
Interest in topics such as power quality, renewables, sustainability, and net zero (e.g., hydrogen production, BESS), or a willingness to learn about these areas
Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills
Experience maintaining a CRM and maximizing available resources
Ensure potential client requirements are met regarding technical information and proposal deadlines
Professional Qualifications/Training
A degree in Electrical Engineering or Fully Qualified Electrician
A minimum of 3 years of experience in business development within the power sector
Willingness to travel frequently - a full UK drivers license
