Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Principal Data Analyst to work within a dynamic, supportive and multi-disciplinary team.
The successful post holder will play a key role in providing the necessary analysis to inform the development and improvement of clinical care, and the resulting operational and financial impact. They will work specifically in the area of Value Based HealthCare ensuring that programme receives robust informatics and analytical support.
The applicant will be working closely with the VBHC team and operational and clinical colleagues to provide a robust and proactive information and analytics service. The analysis provided will be vital in targeting efforts at the right areas to deliver the greatest service improvements and therefore a close working relationship with the clinical teams will be needed to understand how the different services operate.
The post holder will establish and maintain a close working relationship with the clinical and operational teams within a Clinical Board and members of the Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse teams.
A collaborative approach with clinical and operational colleagues will be a key part of delivering successful analytics to drive change and improve outcomes, efficiency and satisfaction of both patients and staff.
The post holder will ensure a good working relationship with wider Digital service colleagues.
Main duties of the job
This opportunity is for a motivated and proactive individual to help us build a Value Tracker tool which aggregates data from across health system to demonstrate impact of change projects. The ambition is to utilise PowerBI to provide an accessible and sustainable system capable of visualising the data and providing useful insights to assess and plan future developments.
This post is fixed term/secondment post for 8 months due to funding

Operational Duties:
The post holder will have a wide and varied role which will include the following operational duties:
To ensure the timely delivery of reporting, data analysis and provision of data to support the ongoing operations and strategic direction of the organisation.
Reporting to Value in Health team the post holder will ensure the quality assurance of data requests, analysis and pieces of development. This will involve using a mix of SQL, IBM Cognos Analytics, Power BI and Signals from Noise.
Assist colleagues across the Clinical Board in gaining a greater understanding of the data that is key to driving improvement in their service
The post holder will have the opportunity to complete ad-hoc exploratory analysis to try and identify further opportunities to be discussed with operational and clinical colleagues
Attend meetings to discuss the analytical requirements and options with operational and clinical colleagues
Analyse, understand and interpret data from multiple sources in a way that can be presented to non-analytical colleagues.
Visualise data in a creative and engaging way into self-service products for use by operational and clinical colleagues.
Automate routine requests that fall within the Clinical Board responsibilities
Contribute to demand and capacity modelling and other predictive analytics requests
Ensure that all work adheres to Information Governance standards and Health Board values
Staff Management and Supervision
The post holder may be required to coach or train other members of the Clinical Board or junior colleagues and may be required to deliver training.
Service Improvement
The post holder will work closely with Improvement and Innovation colleagues to ensure the use of data and available systems are used to maximum benefit. This may include modelling data or building dimensions and measures for use in service improvement projects.
