Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner to join us as a Speech and Language Therapist Assistant Practitioner and work alongside our established Mid and West Cornwall Speech and Language Therapy Teams due to upcoming maternity leave. The successful candidate will ; Provide Speech and Language Therapy intervention to children with speech, language and communication needs in mid and West Cornwall under the supervision of a speech and language therapist. Activities will include the setting up and running of parent groups, children's groups, individual assessment and intervention, advice and target setting within settings/ home and developing resources and packages of care. Main duties of the job To support, alongside the Speech and Language Therapy team, the provision of a speech and language therapy service of assessment, diagnosis and treatment of developmental communication disorders and acquired disorders of speech, language and communicationo To independently manage, with support from a Speech and Language Therapist, a caseload of children with developmental communication and acquired disorders of speech, language and communicationo To provide appropriate intervention as identified by a speech and language therapist, and evaluate outcomeso To set up resources within programmes to be carried out by other key workers/Parentso To contribute to written reports collated by the Speech and Language Therapisto To communicate information from assessment and provide advice to relatives, early years and school staff and other professionals on matters relating to the speech, language and communication needs of individual patients; requiring the ability to communicate with others ina way that they can understand what is being said and enable them to be able to make choices and decisions about the child's careTo provide training and support to :o Parents and carerso other professionals including early years and school staffo Appropriate Voluntary Organisations, at local levelo Other speech and language therapists About us We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
