Join us as a Tenancy Support Officer and help make a difference in the lives of individuals and families within our community. Key Responsibilities: Tenancy Support : Provide support to vulnerable tenants, including those with complex needs such as elderly, disabled, or individuals facing financial hardship. Welfare Benefits Advice : Advise tenants on welfare benefits, housing options, and access to support services, helping them navigate the welfare system and other financial assistance. Rent Arrears Management : Work with tenants to prevent rent arrears, helping to create repayment plans and liaising with Rent Collection Officers to ensure debts are managed effectively. Homelessness Prevention : Identify tenants at risk of homelessness and provide proactive support to prevent eviction, including liaising with external agencies and offering housing solutions. Property Inspections : Carry out regular property visits to assess tenants’ living conditions, providing guidance on how to maintain the property and resolve any issues. Referral to Support Services : Refer tenants to additional support services (e.g., mental health services, financial advice, and social care) to ensure holistic support is provided. Case Management : Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, monitoring tenant progress and reviewing support plans regularly. Essential Qualifications & Skills: Experience : At least 2 years of experience in housing support, social services, or a related role, preferably within a local government or housing association setting. Knowledge : A good understanding of housing law, welfare benefits, and the social support systems available to vulnerable tenants. Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with tenants, colleagues, and external agencies. Empathy & Patience : A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to supporting vulnerable individuals, with an ability to work with tenants from diverse backgrounds and situations. Organisational Skills : Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload of tenants and meet deadlines. IT Proficiency : Familiarity with Microsoft Office and housing management software (e.g., Northgate, Capita). Desirable: Relevant Qualifications : A qualification in Social Work, Housing, or a related field (e.g., CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing). Experience in London : Experience working with tenants in London, particularly in the social housing sector. Multilingual : Ability to speak additional languages is advantageous.
