Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives, supporting women and mothers, preparing young people for increased independence? Do you have experience of working in supported housing projects?
Our Supported Housing service is an accommodation-based service based across three locations in Gateshead:
1. Naomi – an eight bed 24/7 staffed project with four dispersed flats, for single young women.
2. Elizabeth House – a nine bed 24/7 staffed project for young mothers.
3. Karis – supporting six young mothers living in semi-independent accommodation on a local housing estate.
The service provides holistic support, housing and resettlement services for young women at risk of homelessness, with the aim of moving them on safely and successfully. The primary age group is 16-21, however individuals are accepted up to the age of 25 on a case-by-case basis. This role is female only due to the project supporting only females. In line with new regulatory requirements this service is in the process of registering with OFSTED, hence will be subject to regular inspections.
To join us you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the pressures facing young women and mothers, particularly those linked to homelessness. You will have the ability to engage and motivate people, to use your initiative and work flexibly in a demanding environment. You will have experience at Senior Support Worker or Team Leader level within supported housing projects, including the ability to deliver holistic support, needs and risk assessment, and effectively oversee Safeguarding and health and safety.
In return, you will benefit from a supportive, creative environment and have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills. We are a growing charity and we believe staff are the foundation stone to the success of the charity and so we do everything we can to make sure they feel valued, supported, engaged and developed.
