JOB TYPE: Full-time and Part-time The Roof at The Durham is seeking a bartender. We offer a competitive hourly salary tips with excellent earning potential. Bartenders are responsible for preparing and serving drinks to customers as well as taking food orders. Providing an exceptional experience for all guests is the top priority for this position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Interact with customers while promptly taking orders for drinks and food. Prepare all beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Ensure bottles, glassware, and other prep items are stored neatly. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus, and promotions. Provide recommendations and suggestions to guests. Serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner. Keep bar and surrounding area clean and tidy during service. Wash glassware and utensils after each use. Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of glass doors and windows, etc. before and after each shift. Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully stocked with tools and products needed prior to each shift. Collect payments and balance all receipts. Handle an assigned house bank and follow all cash handling procedures as per hotel standard. Prepare inventory or purchase requisitions as needed to replenish supplies. Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience. Comply with all food and beverage regulations. Check identification of the guest to make sure they meet age requirements for purchase of alcohol products. Determine when a customer has had too much alcohol and if required refusing any further serving in a polite way. Perform other duties as assigned by the hotel management. Good personality and positive interpersonal skills required. EDUCATION: High School diploma, general education degree or international equivalent preferred.
