Fire Door Engineer
Shift Pattern Breakdown: Days and occasional nights - Flexible
Shift Pattern Hours: 7am - 7pm on a regular shift pattern - 38.6 hours per week
Training: Qualified Carpenter
Desirable: Passive Fire Qualifications, Fire Door Maintenance experience
Role Start Date: February 2025

Our client is a world-leading workplace and facility management company, currently running an iconic flagship site in West London. Their large maintenance team is currently looking to source 2 fire door engineers to work across this contract where there are in excess of 4000 fire doors in daily operation.
As a Fire Door Engineer, you will be expected to support the maintenance operation in place on the site. This support is coordinated through the Technical Services Manager who will guide and direct the daily duties of work.
You will provide a level of General Building Maintenance as part of a small multi-disciplinary building services team.
Your role will be to visually inspect and repair any fire doors on the contract.
Job Description
The Fire Door Engineer will be responsible for installing and inspecting fire-rated doors to ensure they are installed and functioning correctly and in compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
The Fire Door Inspector will evaluate fire doors for proper installation, maintenance, and repair. The individual will work independently or as part of a team to install, inspect and test fire-rated doors, provide detailed reports of findings, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
There will be a requirement to maintain and install firestopping throughout the building.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the achievement of a 'Best in Class' approach to Engineering and Fabric services including those provided through supplier organisations.
2. Carry out Planned & Reactive Maintenance as instructed by the TSM/KAM.
3. Be able to carry out quoted works to an acceptable standard.
4. To be able to install Fire Doors & Frame Work to standard.
5. Become competent in the operation of the site's Building Management and Planned maintenance computer systems.
6. Assist in resolving maintenance issues raised by retailers.
7. Assist the other maintenance staff as is required.
8. Assist with any training that may be required by other staff.
9. Liaise with Contractors, giving assistance as is agreed by the TSM/KAM.
10. Oversee the working of Contractors as is required by the TSM/KAM.
11. Respond to site emergencies as requested by the Site Management.
12. Ensure the records of all maintenance activities are accurate and kept up-to-date within the Concept CAFM System and office filing system. These documents must be audit ready at all times.
13. Ensure workmanship is of a very high standard at all times, clearing up tools, unused materials and waste as part of the job.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Desired Qualifications:
1. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry
2. NVQ in passive fire - (preferred, not essential)
3. A strong background in carpentry and joinery
4. Installation of fire doors in accordance with British Standard regulation and BM Trada Q-Mark and IFC schemes.
5. Maintenance and repairs of fire doors in accordance with BM Trada Q-Mark and IFC schemes
6. Experience installing new sets
7. Experience upgrading and maintaining existing doors and frames
Skills:
1. Good organisational skills

3. Good understanding of general H&S in the workplace
4. Good level of verbal and written communication skills
5. Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
6. Ability to prioritise own workload and achieve deadlines
