Occupational Therapist - Southampton
Academics are supporting an SEN Secondary School in the Southampton area that cater for children ages 7-19, most of who are able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC and associated needs. Each pupil is valued and treated as an individual and with respect by the extensive, experienced team. They offer therapeutic support for pupils whose needs can no longer be met in a mainstream provision.
I am seeking a confident and experienced Occupational Therapist, with the potential of becoming an Occupational Therapy Lead role should this be something you express an interest in.
Ideally you will be sensory integration trained and have experience working in schools and with SEN pupils, particularly with children with Autism and associated learning difficulties including Dyslexia and Dyspraxia as well as anxiety issues. You will work collaboratively to deliver assessment and intervention plans for the pupils at this school.
Requirements for the role of Occupational Therapist include:
* Hold an Occupational Therapy caseload with the support of the Therapy Team at the school.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation.
* Conduct assessments and write reports for support strategies in the school.
* Plan and deliver individualised and group interventions.
* Work with pupils, support networks, and agencies to communicate and meet needs.
* Collaborate and support the Therapy Team, our Multi-Disciplinary team and school staff.
* A minimum of 2 years' post qualification experience.
* HCPC Registered.
* Sensory Integration Trained.
* Engage children with SEN/ASC needs.
This is a challenging and rewarding role and would suit a resilient and enthusiastic individual, with a therapeutic approach and the ability to make decisions, as well as manage their own workload.
