We are delighted to invite applications for a dynamic and highly skilled critical care nurse to join our critical care outreach team. Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals have 2 acute hospital sites with associated critical care units. You will be one of a team of 5 nurses working across hospital sites led by a Consultant Nurse.
At the Doncaster site, there is a 22 bed critical care unit. The team provides comprehensive clinical cover 7-days per week (excluding nights). At the Bassetlaw site, there is a 6 bed critical care unit where Monday through Friday cover, 8-4, is provided.
There is an established career pathway through to Band 7, Advanced Practitioner in Critical Care Outreach, and we offer support for academic study to progress in this pathway.
Main duties of the job
The critical care outreach team was established in 2001 with the following aims:
* To avert avoidable admissions to critical care where possible or facilitate timely admission to critical care for patients who are deteriorating
* To share critical care knowledge and skills
* To facilitate timely and safe discharge of patients to wards following critical illness
* Facilitate rehabilitation after critical illness
The role is demanding so we are looking for someone who is dynamic, enthusiastic, highly skilled, confident and able to work independently, and who is focussed on patient safety and constantly improving standards of care.
Applicants must have significant critical care experience and a specialist critical care qualification, as well as up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge and skills. A teaching certificate or significant experience, as equivalent, is also essential.
