STF Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a Specialist Teaching Facility. Our partner school is based in the Carmarthen area and is a purpose-built specialist facility to support children with autism and Profound and Moderate Learning Difficulties. The pupils in this school age from 11-19 years, some are on the autism spectrum with some children having severe or profound learning disabilities. The school has a caring and passionate group of staff and employ several STF teaching assistants who will be more than happy to support the successful candidate.
STF Teaching Assistants must:
* Have experience of working with children with autism and/or severe or profound learning disabilities
* Have a confident and friendly personality
* Possess resilience to overcome challenges
* Remain calm in stressful situations
* Demonstrate empathy and care for the children and young people they work with
Role of a STF Teaching Assistant:
* Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with additional learning needs (ALN), ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
* Establish positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
* Promote the inclusion and acceptance of pupils.
* Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
* Promote self-esteem and independence.
* Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
* Provide detailed and regular feedback to teacher on pupils’ progress.
* Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtime.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
