The Surgical Care Group has an exciting opportunity to recruit an experienced, highly motivated senior health care professional with demonstrable experience and expertise.
Reporting directly to the Care Group Director of Nursing, the post holder will also work alongside the Care Group leadership triumvirate to ensure high levels of clinical engagement are achieved. As a member of the Care Group Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will ensure robust and effective input into the development of strategy, policy and the business planning cycle, as well as the workforce leadership agenda for the Care Group.
The Head of Nursing and Professions will have objectives jointly agreed by the Care Group Director of Nursing and the Care Group Director of Operations and will work closely with the Directorate General Managers and Clinical Directors to jointly work to achieve the Care Group and Trust's vision and objectives. The post holder will also participate in the UHD senior manager on-call rota.
This Post requires Registered Nurse/Allied Health Professional/Healthcare Scientist Qualification. Masters Degree or equivalent
Base Location: Bournemouth (with cross site working with Poole)

Main duties of the job
The post holder will consistently develop and deliver high quality, cost-effective services for patients, assuring the provision of safe, effective and evidence-based care within an agreed quality, performance and financial framework. This role supports the Care Group Director of Nursing in leading the development of the nursing and allied health professionals agenda, working closely with the matron and directorate teams. The role has line management responsibilities for the senior matrons within the Care Group.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse/Allied Health Professional/Health Care Scientist
* Degree/master's level management/leadership training
Experience
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in an acute healthcare setting in a clinical leadership/clinical management position.
* Proven track record of operational management at a senior level in an acute healthcare setting managing multiple wards/services/departments, including staff, financial/budgetary and change management.
* Experience of holding staff to account for poor performance.
* Evidence of delivering complex change at organisational level involving wide engagement including external partners.
* Ability to demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge in relation to practice, underpinned by theory and extensive experience.
* Ability and experience of delivering highly sensitive or distressing news to patients, relatives, and staff.
Knowledge
* Extensive knowledge of National and local NHS care and Nursing & professions agenda.
Personal Attributes
* High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.
