Rota provided 4 weeks in advance. Recruiter: Jade Janet About this client/child: Ethan, 8 years old, is an adorably sweet and happy little boy living with his Mummy and Daddy in Marlow. Having recently moved into their new fully adapted home, Ethan is loving having lots of space, including a therapy and sensory room, and a cool new bedroom He enjoys a wide range of activities, including sensory stories and play, massage, watching cartoons, and going for a walk outside. Ethan has Cerebral Palsy and associated complex health care needs, including epilepsy, visual and hearing impairment, a PEG in situ for all fluid, nutrition and medication. He requires deep suctioning and has a VEST system. Ethan and his parents are currently exploring Eye Gaze technology to aid his communication. Due to his significant medical needs, Ethan is totally reliant on others, on a 2:1 basis, 24/7, to meet all his health, care and medical needs. He is a full-time wheelchair user and has ceiling track hoists to support all transitions/moving and handling. His dedicated care team is led by a Nurse Team Leader, and full, comprehensive and ongoing person bespoke training is provided by healthcare professionals to ensure you have the skills to support Ethan. Overview of role: Every shift starts by reading through the epilepsy / seizure management protocol, although Ethan’s seizures are rare, his team must refresh their knowledge every shift. Prior to completing a full handover with the day or night team members, all emergency medication and oxygen is prepared. Day and Night, there are two team members on shift with Ethan providing hands-on, holistic support to meet all his health, care, medical, and therapy needs. He has an established routine in place, and his days are filled with a mixture of fun and educational activities, therapy input, and trips out, of course, this is dependent on if Ethan is well enough to participate; some days will be focused on providing care to ensure he is comfortable and recuperating. At night, Ethan requires his SATs and vitals continuously monitored. A comprehensive handover is always completed when the shift changes.
