Job Title: IT Support, Asset Management, and Data Center Specialist
Location: London ideally / Travel to Glasgow
Department: IT Operations, Proximity Support, Asset Management, and Data Center Services
THE OPPORTUNITY
The IT Support, Asset Management, and Data Center Specialist will provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for hardware, software, and data center operations. This role includes managing IT assets, ensuring the seamless delivery of IT services, and maintaining compliance with organizational standards. Responsibilities span desktop support, IT infrastructure management, and data center activities, requiring collaboration across local and global teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. IT Support Services
* Deliver Level 1 and Level 2 support for hardware (desktops, laptops, peripherals, mobile devices) and software.
* Manage issues related to Windows and iOS platforms, application lifecycle, and core builds.
* Troubleshoot and resolve incidents for in-house and third-party applications.
* Assist with PC builds, reinstallation of applications, and on-site troubleshooting.
* Support specialized software for financial environments (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters).
2. IT Asset Management
* Maintain up-to-date records of IT assets using systems like SAP, MyPortal, and ITSM tools.
* Oversee the delivery, storage, and distribution of IT desktop equipment and mobile devices.
* Conduct regular audits of stock and ensure accurate asset tracking and reporting.
* Manage the end-to-end disposal process for IT equipment in compliance with regulations.
* Plan and oversee the transportation of IT goods across sites.
3. Data Center Operations
* Support data center operations, including hardware installations, decommissioning, and cabling.
* Perform routine maintenance, physical inspections, and environmental monitoring within the data center.
* Assist with server and network hardware deployment and patch management.
* Ensure compliance with data center safety and operational protocols.
* Collaborate with global teams to maintain consistency and support data center projects.
4. User and Service Management
* Collaborate with desktop support teams to allocate IT equipment and manage RSA tokens.
* Ensure clear communication with end users to address technical issues effectively.
* Document and maintain operational procedures for desktop, asset, and data center management.
5. Project and Operational Support
* Participate in IT project rollouts, including hardware deployments, moves, and changes.
* Support business continuity management (BCM) and disaster recovery activities.
* Conduct risk management and capacity planning for IT operations, including data center resources.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Technical Proficiency: Expertise in hardware installation, network cabling, and troubleshooting.
* IT Asset Management: Skilled in asset tracking tools such as SAP, MyPortal, and ITSM systems.
* Data Center Expertise: Familiarity with server rack management, patching, and environmental controls.
* Customer Service: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on end-user satisfaction.
* Problem-Solving: Analytical approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
* Operational Efficiency: Ability to manage multiple priorities, including audits and compliance tasks.
Preferred Skills
* Experience with financial IT systems (e.g., Fidessa, Bloomberg, Reuters).
* Knowledge of data center cooling, power systems, and physical security.
* ITIL Foundation or similar certifications.
* Experience with virtualization technologies and server management.
Experience
* At least 3 years in IT support, asset management, or data center operations.
* Hands-on experience with network patching, server installations, and root cause analysis.
