Facilities Engineer

Our client is part of a multi-billion-pound global organisation employing more than 70,000 staff in over 100 countries and is recognised as a market leader in their niche manufacturing sector. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2024 and beyond, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive Facilities Engineer to complement their established and professional team based in St. Helens, Merseyside.
As a Facilities Engineer, you will be tasked with supervising, controlling, and maintaining plants in a multidisciplinary capacity to ensure all customer demands are met with minimal support while adhering to agreed budget targets. You will plan and coordinate maintenance activities at the main site and satellite locations to meet company and industry standards.
Your responsibilities will include supervising internal and contract personnel in accordance with Permit to Work requirements and actively supporting the site's safety, health, environmental, and quality goals and targets. You will act as a senior person on site for plant emergencies and implement any appropriate site emergency plans as required. Regular inspections and checks of all operating plant and machinery will be part of your duties, including diagnosing faults and providing feedback for rectification. Participation in maintaining the site's on-call system is also expected.
To qualify for this role, you should be realistically qualified to at least HNC level or above in a relevant engineering discipline (Instrumentation, Electrical, or Mechanical) and demonstrate at least 4 years of proven practical experience in a similar Facilities Engineer role. A good base knowledge and understanding of industry and statutory standards and codes of practice is essential.
Additionally, you should have detailed knowledge of Permit to Work procedures and a solid understanding of current Health, Safety, and Environment legislation (NEBOSH certificate is desirable but not essential). You must demonstrate knowledge of operating chemical and process plant equipment and possess the ability to provide a high standard of customer service while working under pressure.
