Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced therapy assistant practitioner to join our complex neurological rehabilitation team within Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. The post will support the multidisciplinary team in providing rehabilitation to a range of patients with complex needs including those post Stroke, spinal cord injury and out of hospital cardiac arrest.
Main duties of the job
The complex neurological rehabilitation team works across inpatient locations at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital providing rehabilitation in the critical care environment and wards. While the post holder will be aligned to the physiotherapy team, close working with the multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Dietitians and Speech and Language therapists is required. Previous experience of therapeutic handling of patients and a sound knowledge of the role of Physiotherapy is essential. The ability to work independently, make clinical decisions with guidance from qualified therapists, use initiative and follow therapy plans is also essential.
The therapy team at LHCH consists of band 3, 4 and 5 support workers as well as qualified Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language therapists, Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists and our admin team. The role will provide ample opportunity for training and development as well as peer support. We work closely as a friendly and welcoming team, promoting a supportive, open culture. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post is 30 hours per week, expected to be worked across four 7.5 hour days. Therapy services are moving towards 7 day working therefore applicants must be able to offer Saturday / Sunday hours on a rota basis approximately once per month.

Qualification and Education
* NVQ Level IV in a related health care field/ NVQ Level III in a related health care field plus additional relevant short course and experience.
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience working within the NHS as a therapy or healthcare assistant
* Therapeutic manual handling skills.
