Job Opportunity: Trainee Echocardiographer
Are you a registered Healthcare Scientist with the AHCS or completing your undergraduate Healthcare Science degree this year and interested in specialising in Echocardiography?
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust offers an exciting 18-month full-time fixed-term training post in Echocardiography. This role is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme (ETP) developed by the National School of Healthcare Science, designed to train you in performing and reporting cardiac ultrasound diagnostic procedures.
Eligibility: Applicants should have a 1st or 2:1 degree in Cardiac Physiology (PTP) or a relevant scientific subject such as Biology, Human Biology, or Sports Science. Those completing their undergraduate Cardiac Physiology (PTP) this year are encouraged to apply but must be registered with the AHCS before the programme begins.
Training and Qualifications: The successful trainee will achieve BSE accreditation level 2 and be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography. For more information, visit the NSHCS website.
Role Details: The Trainee Echocardiographer will be employed within the Cardio-Respiratory Department for 18 months, following a structured learning programme. Under the guidance of the Designated Echocardiography Training Officer, you will be responsible for your own progression, completing work-based competencies, academic coursework, and preparing for BSE accreditation.

Academic Component: The programme includes postgraduate-level training delivered by the University of Newcastle, with attendance at two block weeks during the first year.
