We’re looking for an experienced mid-weight or senior designer to join our small but growing team. We’re a design studio with a worker co-operative model based within The Minories Gallery in Colchester.
We collaborate with purpose-driven organisations on a range of projects with a strong social impact. We design brands, websites, and digital tools for people who want to create a better future. The ideal candidate will bring solid design skills, be experienced in interface design and brand application, have an eye for detail, and the flexibility to adapt to a diverse client portfolio.
You’ll be actively involved in shaping projects, from initial concept to final delivery, and have the chance to be involved in areas outside of your initial role, continuously developing your skill set. You’ll also work alongside our development team to ensure a seamless project handoff and maintain strong communication throughout.
Essential Skills:
1. Website Design & Prototyping: Ability to design attractive, informational websites as well as experience with UI/UX across a variety of site formats including campaign, service, e-commerce & diagnostic data tools.
2. Branding Application: Ability to apply brand assets across digital and print, including detailed typographic work.
3. Client Workshop Facilitation: Confident in leading web workshops and sprint meetings, both in-studio and off-site.
4. Accessibility: Ability to create designs that meet industry standard accessibility criteria.
5. Adobe Suite & Figma: Proficient in industry-leading software.
Additional Skills (Nice to Have):
1. Branding: Experience in creating brands from ideation and logo design, to application and producing brand guidelines. Experience in brand workshops.
2. Print Design & Production: Proficiency in creating brochures, business cards, large format, and other print materials.
3. Content creation & social media: Experience in asset creation, blog writing, and social content.
4. Administrative Tasks: Content management and small edits on WordPress managed sites, internal document preparation, and ability to estimate design work.
5. Motion Design: Basic animation skills for case studies and social media assets.
