Job overview
This post has arisen for a Consultant Radiologist within Clinical Radiology at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to support general radiology with special emphasis on MSK imaging. This is a permanent post.
The successful candidate will be based at Chorley and Preston Hospital sites, with some sub-specialty sessions at our new Community Diagnostic Centre.
Duties will include all those normally expected of a radiologist in a similar sized Radiology department in the United Kingdom. The majority of the appointee’s time will be spent on clinical duties. Additionally, the appointee will be expected to participate in formal teaching and ongoing audit programmes within the directorate, as well as a full range of management duties commensurate with this role.
Any person unable to work full-time for personal reasons may still be considered for the post, and if appointed, the job plan will be discussed personally with colleagues.
The applicant should hold or be eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to provide cross-sectional imaging reporting and support for various MDTs.
The post will involve 10-programmed activities of imaging support (8 DPAs plus 1.5 SPAs and 0.5 for on-call).
Also, the post holder will:
* Demonstrate leadership through positive role modelling and team working.
* Provide a Radiology service as a member of the Directorate, which may be across all sites depending on service requirements.
* Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time, ensuring adequate arrangements are made for leave and off-duty periods.
* Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients through direct patient care and maintenance of continuing professional development.
* Work independently and under Consultant supervision as appropriate and supervise others.
* Take an active role in the management and organization of the directorate, including contributing to teaching, research, and audit.
There are also substantial opportunities for development or maintenance of other subspecialist interests.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and License to Practice
* FRCR or equivalent
* CESR in Radiology or eligible registration equivalents
* PLAB or equivalent standards
* CCT within 6 months
* MBBS or equivalent
* Higher Degree / PHD / Masters
* Membership of specialist radiological societies
Experience and Skills
* Minimum of 4 years at middle grade level in clinical radiology
* Wide experience of cross-sectional radiology
* Experience & Evidence of MSK reporting
* Ability to work and report independently
* Experience in audit
* IT and computing skills
* Evidence of participation in and commitment to teaching, with the ability to train and supervise junior medical staff and medical students
* Understanding of current NHS management systems including clinical Governance and Risk management
* Proven ability to lead radiology discussions within sub-specialty MDTs
* Evidence of attendance at appropriate professional meetings/courses
* GCP certification
* MDT involvement
* Evidence of commitment to audit
* Previous participation in a management role
