Supplier Development Engineer - What does the job involve? Developing, maintaining, and improving our supply chain base. Helping to qualify new components, supporting issues with current production, developing new suppliers, reduce cost within the supply base, increase capacity to improve supplier performance. Hours of work: Day Shift - 39 hours per week, usually working, Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm and Friday 8.00am to 1.00pm with 30-minute break for lunch. Supplier Development Engineer - What will my responsibilities include?’ Develop product control plans with KPI metrics with key suppliers demonstrating performance and compliance to requirements Design and deliver a Supplier development strategy for key suppliers Facilitate implementation and on-going compliance of the Supplier development & improvement strategy at the supply chain Facilitate implementation of Lean techniques and Best Practice aligned with company strategies at the Suppliers to continuously drive costs down and remove waste from the supply chain but continuing to meet requirements Work with the Quality and Process Improvement Manager to ensure that requirements are understood and being met in the supply chain prior to initiating works Work with suppliers to ensure that their On-Time Delivery performance consistently improves Support in measuring Supplier quality and delivery performance providing statistics to both the Supplier and the business to support continuous improvement programs and supplier selection decisions In conjunction with the supply chain resources, undertake regular business reviews with key suppliers to review delivery, quality & cost performance, existing & future requirements & improvement programs Establish with suppliers a supply chain process that will generate an increase in inventory turns & lead-time reductions Coordinate & manage supplier non-conformance & rejects then working with the suppliers to ensure root cause analysis with the implementation of effective Corrective & Preventive actions Perform duties in accordance with company policies, procedures and processes Support in the development, implementation and improvement of company processes and documented procedures to ensure a robust Quality Management System is in place throughout the business. Help with the internal audit program Perform Supplier Audits when required and compile visit report for new suppliers Supplier Development Engineer - What key skills and experience do I need? Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential) Experience with the development and sustainment of programs to meet Quality, Cost and Delivery requirements Experience of the required tools and techniques required to develop supply chain processes (e.g Control Plans, PFMEAs, KPIs, SPC, Process Mapping) A strong team player and must have the ability to create and maintain effective professional relationships with suppliers and other members of staff Good communication skills demonstrated both verbally and in the generation of documentation required to support the role Demonstrated experience in gaining trust and respect with suppliers and internal/external customers Self-driven and able to monitor own performance effectively to ensure commitments and deadlines are met Effectively able to manage own time according to the role requirements Effective planning and organising Proficient in the use of IT software including Word & Excel. Previous experience of MRP or ERP systems (Desirable Supplier Development Engineer - What qualifications should I have? AS9100 Auditor or fully trained ISO Auditor Full UK Driving Licence Basic O’ Level / GCSE Qualifications, technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ).
