About the role
The Bartlett School of Architecture is seeking to appoint a full-time Workshop Manager position in (B-made 22 Gordon Street). ON-SITE.
The post holder will be responsible for the daily management of B-made’s Workshop at 22 Gordon Street while collaborating and supporting the goals of B-made’s overall facilities.
Working closely with the management team at both the Bloomsbury and Here East sites, the post holder will have a demonstrable set of technical expertise that will underpin their daily advisory and technical duties supporting students, researchers and staff in the advancement of their projects.
This role is responsible for the effective line-management of the team of Technicians and academics, ensuring their development and training is integrated and enforced alongside their daily workloads.
The post holder will rely on their Health and Safety expertise to advise and enforce safe working practices.Provide clear lines of communication between senior management and shared governance, and the wider B-made team.
About you
The successful candidate will
1. Ensure compliance with B-made objectives.
2. Manage the development of design and fabrication expertise and its provision within the Faculty, and to ensure that both facilities and staff at B-made are kept up-to-date with related design and manufacturing technologies within manufacturing and its relationship to other B-made disciplines.
3. To help develop and deploy the programme of teaching directly and indirectly relating strategic plans.
4. Delegate and monitor technical, operational Health and Safety, and personal performance
5. compliance obligations within the team.
6. Carry out regular monitoring of UCL, Faculty and School strategic plans and assess how they are being addressed and supported.
7. Define and execute short, mid and long-term management programs for the workshop within B-made and its service provision within the school as a whole.
8. Develop Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures for Workshop activities, rooms and equipment. Advise, train, review and approve / reject Risk Assessment completed by students and staff.
9. Ensure that B-made’s inventory of equipment is kept up to date and integrated with strategic plans for equipment replacement or disposal.
