Band 5 - Theatre Practitioner, Theatres - Scrub SACH

A new role has opened up for a Theatre Practitioner in SACH. The successful applicant needs to be a team member able to work in a multidisciplinary team, with good communication skills. We are a small team who work closely together, supporting each other and teaching each other.
The hours are 8 - 21.00 three days a week, weekdays. Sometimes there is the possibility to do Bank work at the weekends. We are an elective site so there is no emergency cover overnight.
Please note: You will need to have a registered NMC Pin and have passed your OSCE as we do not currently provide training for OSCE. If you do not have a valid registered pin or OSCE, your application will be rejected.
Main duties of the job
1. Circulate and scrub for operations; learn about instruments and machines used in the operating department.
2. Make mathematical calculations to administer drugs.
3. Possess computer skills and good communication skills.
4. Exhibit empathy, discretion, and professionalism in patient care.

Job responsibilities
1. Organizing and preparing the operating theatre and relevant equipment pertinent to the operative list/schedule.
2. Assisting the surgeon with the surgical intervention, including safe handling of surgical instruments, drains, and dressings.
3. Ensuring competency in surgical intervention, which should include periodic updating within the surgical arena.

Education and qualifications
* First level registration with the NMC
* ODP registration
* Evidence of professional development
* Degree
Knowledge
* Up-to-date knowledge of relevant political and professional issues in health care
* Understanding of the theatre department
* Knowledge of developing care pathways
Experience
* Theatre experience as part of training or rotation on a programme
* Commitment to clinical effectiveness and evidence-based care
