Position : Electrical Engineering Associate Location: Manchester Salary: to £70,000 - £90,000 per annum (base), plus 10% pension contribution, healthcare, generous profit share, company share scheme and bonus Overview: This is an opportunity to apply your electrical design expertise and embark upon a career within the rewarding and varied forensic engineering sector. Our client is a world leader in forensic engineering and science. Their engineers and scientists are recruited directly from industry, and following a period of training, investigate and determine the cause of failures in the UK and internationally. Their expertise covers manufacturing, power and energy, shipping / marine, automotive, aerospace, technology, civil, building services, building engineering and construction. They are an independently owned British consultancy with a steadily expanding international presence. Their profession commands high fee levels and performs well throughout economic cycles. The Role: The work will draw upon your existing electrical expertise and enable you to apply it to a range of topics. Our client’s recent electrical assignments include failures affecting HV & LV distribution, fire alarms, lighting protection, BMS, substations, power stations, linear particle accelerators, assessment of product design and control system analysis. The scale of the work ranges from component failure to complete system failure, that has, for example, resulted in the shutdown of a power station or manufacturing process. You will work alongside a team of electrical engineering experts, each of whom have specialist skills and strengths. Expert knowledge is available when assignments require additional technical input or guidance. Additional training is provided should you wish to become an expert witness. You will investigate the physical effects of failures and analyse engineering drawings, in some cases you may take witness statements or have materials laboratory analysed. There will be a comprehensive on the job training period to become proficient with investigation processes and techniques, and how to present your findings and recommendations. You will also have the opportunity to become an expert witness. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, your findings will be used to settle litigation, resolve engineering, design and manufacturing issues and improve safety, reliability and efficiency. Profile Required: Degree Qualified Electrical Engineer Chartered, or nearing with the IET or CIBSE Design Experience Strong analytical and lateral thinkking skills Good written and verbal communication skills. Remuneration : In addition to the base salary their profit share scheme provides significant additional income as a percentage of fee income.
