Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Data Centres)
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team, working on high-profile data centre construction projects across London. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, technical environment with significant potential for career progression.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in delivering cost-effective and high-quality construction solutions, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Management:
Assist in preparing, monitoring, and managing project budgets.
Perform cost analysis and provide cost-saving strategies.
2. Procurement Support:
Assist in tender preparation and the procurement of subcontractors, materials, and equipment.
Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
3. Contract Administration:
Support the preparation of contracts and manage variations, claims, and final accounts.
Maintain accurate records of valuations, payments, and project costs.
4. Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Monitor project progress and ensure financial risks are minimized.
5. Reporting:
Assist in preparing detailed financial and progress reports for internal and client stakeholders.
Provide input for cash flow forecasts and budget reviews.
6. Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
Foster relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. 1–3 years of experience in quantity surveying or a similar role, preferably within data centre, MEP, or large-scale construction projects.
3. Working knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC).
4. Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, MS Office Suite).
5. Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
