The Men's Health's Editor will manage the magazine arm of the brand. Working closely with the Editor-in-chief and Multiplatform Director, they will build and implement an overall brand content strategy that drives success across all platforms, while ensuring MH retains its position as the UK's number one men's lifestyle title.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the magazine arm of the brand from ideation, commissioning and editing through to proof reading.
* Assist the Editor-in-chief and Multiplatform Director in creating and realising brand content strategy.
* Work closely with the Editor-in-chief and Multiplatform Director to ensure positioning of content is in line with brand values and that this is articulated and understood by all staff.
* Work alongside the Multiplatform Director to optimise workflow, allowing writers and editors to contribute to all of the brand's platforms, while achieving their extensive KPIs by creating content with intention and purpose.
* Manage and support the team to create best-in-class content that delivers consistent editorial excellence.
* Host team brainstorms ahead of every new magazine production cycle and pitch key ideas and features to the Editor-in-chief.
* Work with the Production Editor to create each issue's flatplan, including any additional booklets and training manuals.
* Assign tasks and deadlines to editors and commission, edit and upload copy, working closely with the production hub to ensure all deadlines are met.
* Ensure factual accuracy and legal safety of all copy, as well as ensuring tone remains consistent. Liaise with legal department when relevant.
* Approve layouts and proof-read all magazine pages and cover booklets.
* Work with Features Editor to pitch, commission and edit digital-first stories.
* Build a strong working relationship with MH US, exploring opportunities for collaboration.
* Work with Hearst's Partnerships Lead to ensure a high performance across platforms such as Apple News and Readly, including refining headlines and amplifying key content.
* Deputise for the Editor-in-chief in her absence, including managing cover shoots and signing off commercial briefs.
* Manage relationships with talent agents and PRs.
* Approve and process invoices ensuring print remains within budget.
* Assist Editor-in-chief in liaising with Hearst's commercial teams to realise potential revenue streams and partnerships.
* Assist in the communication of the brands' vision to internal and external PRs, agents and clients.
* Promote the brand, when necessary, through media and public appearances.
* Act as an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.

Qualifications
* A proven track record of running the print arm of a brand and managing a team is essential.
* Ability to keep a cool head under pressure, multi-task and remain professional in fast-paced situations with multiple stake-holders present is essential.
* Experience of pitching, commissioning and editing long-form features is essential.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to implement a well-oiled and efficient publishing process is essential.
* Experience of budget management and cost control, while understanding revenue breakdowns is essential.
* A thorough knowledge of and passion for the Men's Health brand is preferred
