The Sister/Charge Nurse is accountable and responsible for the twenty-four-hour care delivery and management of the ward/area. The Sister/Charge Nurse will promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient experience, provide effective leadership and management and contribute to the delivery of the Trust/Divisional objectives. The post holder will work as an integral member of the Multidisciplinary Team within University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael's Hospital is one of the Lead Centres for neonatal services within Bristol; this tertiary unit provides intensive care for the population of Bristol and beyond. The unit consists of 31 funded cots. 15 Intensive, 8 High dependency and 8 special care. The unit also supports a 16 cot Transitional Care ward. The unit provides care for very sick newborn infants with a wide variety of medical, cardiac and surgical conditions.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for experienced enthusiastic nurses to join our nursing team. We have both permanent and fixed term (maternity cover) positions available. As a senior member of the nursing team you will be expected to supervise the assessment of the care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programmes of care. You will be expected to take the lead in the shift coordination of the unit. You will also be expected to support and manage junior members of the nursing team and need to show extensive evidence of knowledge and clinical expertise within the specialty.

Knowledge and Experience
* Previous Band 6 or higher experience in relevant Neonatal Intensive Care
* Teaching experience
* Demonstrate leadership skills and knowledge
* Mentoring and Assessing or Teaching qualification

* Be able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard
