It’s knowing that your skills are contributing to the upkeep of some of the most iconic and historic buildings in the world. It’s about ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, from grand state functions to everyday operations. This is what makes working for the Royal Household unique. As part of the expert Property Section team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining The King’s official residences across the Windsor Estate, including Windsor Castle, Frogmore House, and other historic properties. Your work will ensure that the Estate’s buildings and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, supporting important events and providing a seamless experience for both staff and visitors. Key Responsibilities: Conduct planned and reactive maintenance across the Estate, ensuring all mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems are in good working order. Perform fault-finding, repairs, and minor installations of M&E systems under the guidance of the M&E team. Carry out regular checks and inspections of plant rooms and machinery, maintaining accurate logs and ensuring cleanliness and safety. Supervise external contractors to ensure work is carried out safely and in compliance with Royal Household requirements. Provide essential support for state, ceremonial, and official events, ensuring all equipment is operational, resolving issues promptly, and securing equipment after events. Respond to emergencies and building alarms as needed. Ensure materials and stock levels are maintained to support ongoing maintenance needs, minimising delays to work. Hours of Work This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, with core hours between 08:00 and 17:00. You’ll be required to be flexible, including working evenings and weekends, particularly during events or in response to emergencies. About You You’re qualified in mechanical or electrical engineering, with a proven background in building maintenance, ideally in commercial or historic properties. You have experience with fault-finding, repairs, and installation of M&E systems, with an understanding of how to maintain buildings in line with statutory requirements. You bring a customer-driven approach to your work, with strong communication skills and a flexible, "can-do" attitude. You’re able to work independently and as part of a team, handling a variety of tasks with excellent organisational skills. You have experience using CAFM and helpdesk systems, and are IT literate, particularly with Microsoft Office applications. A clean UK driving license is essential. A relevant property maintenance related qualification and/or experience of working within listed buildings would be desirable, however it’s your passion for maintaining historic buildings that we’re really looking for.
