Job Overview
We are looking for a Part Time Medical Receptionist to work in a very busy GP surgery in Didsbury. We are a friendly surgery with a large reception team and are looking to add to the team as soon as possible.
We seek someone to join our team and bring skills that will enhance the care we provide to our patients. Our patients are our priority, and we want them to have a positive experience when accessing healthcare provided by the surgery.
Knowledge of EMIS is desirable but not essential.
Main Duties
* Greeting patients and visitors efficiently and courteously
* Providing an effective and polite telephone enquiry service
* Proactively communicating information between relevant patients, doctors, and professionals
* Answering incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly
* Registering new patients
* Using the online tool - Patchs, working on a rota to help our care coordinators manage online requests
Hours of work are 18-20 hours over 3 days. We offer 6 weeks of annual leave, and a uniform is provided.
About Us
Barlow Medical Centre is a large practice with a very friendly team. We have 5 Partners, a Management Team, Salaried GPs, a Nursing Team, a Prescribing Team, a Data Team, a Secretarial Team, Care Coordinators, and a Reception Team. We are a training practice and currently have 5 Trainee GPs.
Job Responsibilities
* Greet patients and visitors to the practice
* Book in patients and visitors in line with practice appointments and visitor procedures
* Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests accordingly
* Ensure the computerized appointment system is up-to-date
* Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments
* Set up new patients on the computer system
* Answer incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly
* Be competent in using computerized systems
* Complete annual mandatory training
* Ensure the up-to-date maintenance of both computerized and manual filing systems (i.e., patient notes)

* Experience of working in a GP practice is desirable but not essential as full training will be given
