To provide a weekday Linen Service (Mon to Fri) to deliver linen to wards and departments at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan Lane, Wigan.
To issue staff uniforms and obtain signatures for delivered uniform stock.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will be expected to work with a flexible approach and aid as required in the busy linen room with the distribution of linen to wards and departments at the main acute site (Wigan Infirmary, Royal Albert Edward Infirmary site).
Experience of a similar working environment will be an advantage. The ability to receipt and audit goods efficiently and accurately is required. Occasional operation of the onsite laundry facilities for the washing and drying of baby items is also required. Allocation and recording of signatures from staff for collected uniform may be required.
The postholder will also be expected to take part in the New Bank Holiday rota system to ensure a continuous service for our patients.

Job responsibilities
The postholder will be expected to provide a delivery service of hospital linen to wards and departments at the Wigan Infirmary (Royal Albert Edward Infirmary) site.
Experience of a similar working environment will be an advantage. The ability to order, receipt and audit goods efficiently and accurately is required. The stock will need to be ordered via an external supplier IT Portal (full training will be given).
Occasional operation of onsite laundry facilities for the washing and drying of Trust-owned items may also be required.
Uniform distribution and recording of signatures from staff for collected uniform is essential to the role.
The postholder will need to be flexible with the occasional need to work across other Linen Services Departments.
The postholder may also be expected to take part in the New Bank Holiday rota system to ensure a continuous service for our patients.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* No formal qualifications required. An induction period, on-the-job instruction, and additional training will be provided on the use of equipment/machinery, manual handling, and infection control.
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
Experience
* No previous experience necessary; all training will be given.
* Previous experience of working in a linen services environment is an advantage.
Skills
* Basic literacy & numeracy with accurate attention to detail.
* Manual dexterity and co-ordination.
* Ability to lift weights up to 20 kg.
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a range of people including patients and service users.
* Ability to organise and prioritise day-to-day tasks.
* Ability to be flexible in approach.
Knowledge
* General knowledge of Linen Services and its importance within a hospital environment.
* Knowledge of the hospital site and its associated departments.
* Knowledge of Infection Control and Manual Handling guidelines.
Additional
* Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e., with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation.
* Ability to be flexible and provide cover for colleagues.
* Partake in Bank Holiday rota.
