You will champion a strong Nuclear Safety Culture, embedding this ethos in every process and activity throughout the project. Your scope will encompass all construction works within your designated area, where you’ll conduct thorough surveillance of contractor activities. This includes a combination of continuous, scheduled, and planned checks, ensuring all works align with the highest safety and quality standards. What you will be doing As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring quality compliance across your designated section of the Works, aligning with NNB’s surveillance strategy requirements. Reporting directly to the Construction Superintendent for day-to-day guidance, you’ll also work closely with other site teams to address site-wide management issues. This role requires a proactive mindset to uphold company policies, procedures, and protocols for construction, health & safety, and quality while continuously looking for opportunities to enhance processes and outcomes. Key responsibilities include: • Verifying that Works are constructed in accordance with the contract and promptly notifying the Construction Superintendent of any non-conformance requirements. • Providing details of non-conformance to assist in issuing non-conformance reports. • Proactively communicating with other site teams, maintaining strong communication channels, and ensuring timely reporting of surveillance activities. • Contributing surveillance information to support KPI indicators and drive performance improvement. • Identifying potential Quality issues early and implementing mitigating actions to avoid delays or escalations. • Supporting team instructions to implement temporary measures for safety and Quality compliance, while taking further steps to ensure continuity of works. • Ensuring all design decisions are formally considered and approved, avoiding ad-hoc decisions “in the field.” • Maintaining a forward-looking perspective on site activities to enhance team planning and preparedness. • Ensuring all tasks meet the company’s stringent Quality, health, safety, and environmental standards. • Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of construction drawings, activities, Quality Control Plans, and Quality Inspection Records. • Monitoring that Quality Inspection Records are completed and agreed upon before any works are covered up. • Reviewing Contractor performance against authorised Quality Control Plans to ensure compliance and excellence. Who you are With a strong foundation in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (minimum HND or equivalent vocational training), you bring a proven track record of success within large scale, regulated industries. Your extensive knowledge of the building industry, including materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements, positions you as a well-rounded professional capable of navigating complex construction environments and delivering results with precision and expertise. • Exceptional organisational, delegation, and communication skills, thriving within a high-performing team that consistently exceeds expectations. • Proven ability to produce accurate, concise, and relevant diaries tailored to specific contract requirements. • Sharp attention to detail when inspecting work and materials, ensuring quality and precision. • Skilled at building strong, effective working relationships with contractors to foster collaboration. • Persuasive and diplomatic, maintaining independence while influencing outcomes effectively.
