We have an exciting opportunity for a conscientious and enthusiastic Working Foreman to join our dynamic team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to advance their career and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.
In this role, you will undertake a variety of carpentry repairs in occupied and unoccupied residential properties, corporate and civic buildings. The work may include: fitting of various types of doors (including fire doors), first and second fixing carpentry, kitchen installations, DFG adaptations, ceramic wall tiling, minor plumbing, and decorative works.
You will also be supporting the contract with the site management of quoted/project works, carrying out operative observations looking at both health & safety and quality of works, conducting equipment checks to ensure compliance. You will work alongside supervisors to assist with in-progress job checks and materials sourcing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Carp/Multi
1. Diagnose and rectify faults within core and other trades related repair requests.
2. Ensure that the quality of work meets the highest possible standards at all times.
3. Communicate with the help desk to provide your estimated completion time, materials used on the job, and completion details.
4. Support all trades to deliver a professional and safe maintenance and repairs service.
5. Respond swiftly to all high priority situations and resolve them efficiently.
6. Keep the customer fully informed about all aspects of the work and any potential disruptions.
7. Undertake all work efficiently and cost-effectively, minimizing non-productive time and reporting any difficulties encountered to the Resource Controller and/or Supervisor.
8. Apply applicable Health & Safety rules in all you do, using risk assessments, method statements, and PPE when needed.
9. Maintain tools, plant, and equipment in a safe, clean, and workable condition.
10. Using your PDA, maintain accurate records of works undertaken with photographic evidence as necessary, reporting any difficulties encountered to the Service Manager and/or Supervisor.
11. Be willing to work out of hours to meet client requirements and participate in the call-out rota, if required.
12. Maintain your company vehicle in a clean and tidy condition at all times and report any defects to the Foreman/Supervisor in a timely manner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Working Foreman
1. Forge strong working relationships with Client Representatives and develop new relationships across a breadth of roles within the client teams.
2. Quote and complete reactive tasks within the scope & price agreed with the client and agree on variations to scope as required.
3. Assist in compliance and Mountjoy audits.
4. Assist in carrying out operative observations, quality, and equipment checks as required.
5. Reinforce the Health and Safety culture by ensuring that company practices and policies are being followed by you and others on site.
6. Escalate to the SHEQ Team/Contract Manager or Supervisor any serious events or occurrences that need urgent addressing and highlight any reoccurring issues that could affect service delivery and performance if not addressed.
7. Report any accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring these are completed in line with company policy and in a professional and timely manner.
8. Provide escalation as part of an out-of-hours service, attending site where requested.
9. Any other task as assigned by the Contract Manager or Supervisor.
SKILLS REQUIRED
1. Fit & Fix Mortice Latch and Latch set, Door Hanging, Door Lining, and Rebated framework.
2. All aspects of kitchen installation with mitred worktop joints (internal & external) where applicable.
3. Be comfortable and sensitive in dealing with a variety of commercial and residential clients.
4. Be a team player ensuring lessons learnt and good practices are shared amongst the team for future benefit of the service.
5. Have a practical approach to health and safety, ensuring that you and others around you are always safe.
6. Be able to self-manage, be self-motivated, and have an organised approach, prioritising and programming work efficiently.
7. Use knowledge and judgement to make the right decisions and find effective solutions to problems.

10. Have experience using MS Office and the ability to use an IT system for job management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
1. A trade-specific qualification minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Carpentry.
2. Must be competent in 2 other secondary skills.
3. Full current driving license.
4. A DBS check is required before commencement of the role.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. Over 5 years trade experience, ideally with residential repairs and project works.
2. Experience managing the delivery of maintenance and repairs and planned works.
3. Preferred experience in UPVC repairs and maintenance (doors and windows).
4. Kitchen and/or bathroom installations – 1st & 2nd Fix.
5. Fire-door installation and awareness of associated regulations.
6. Competence within your sphere of expertise.
7. Experience using MS Office (Desirable).
8. Experience using Outlook (Desirable).
