An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Health Care Assistant to join the Pre-operative Assessment Team at St Richards Hospital.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant to deliver a high-quality service to patients attending the pre-operative assessment unit (outpatient setting).
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team as well as independently. Main tasks include facilitating clinic appointments, conducting observations, performing clinical tests, and handling administrative duties.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to work between 2 units, Emer and Pagham Suite, based in St Richards Hospital - working in a clinic/outpatient setting over a 37.5 hr week over a 4-day period from 0700-1700.
The post holder will need good communication skills to support all patients and staff within the clinic setting, including observations, clinical sample handling, administrative, and housekeeping duties.
Job responsibilities
Supporting Pre-Operative Assessment of patients to a high standard, ensuring patients are individually managed case by case and prepared for elective surgery in a safe and timely manner.
Provide high-quality evidence-based clinical care and clear communication to patients, in line with the Trust Values and in accordance with professional regulations.
Act as a role model communicating in line with the Trust Values to patients, carers, and staff at all times.
Accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas for the senior nurse in charge, recognizing and working within the limits of your competence.
Take every opportunity to continue to maintain and develop your own practice.
Liaise with other clinical areas as necessary for the coordination of patient care and the smooth running of the ward/unit/department.
Participate in safety and improvement huddles within the department.
Demonstrate a high degree of motivation and innovation.
* Daily duties of clinical observations, ECG, sampling and tests, administrative and housekeeping duties.
Person Specification
* Suitable work/life experience (transferable skills).
* Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the healthcare setting.
* Experience working in a healthcare role.
* Basic computer skills.
