Job overview
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the theatres team as a housekeeper.
Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Staff, the post holder will participate as an integral member of the departmental team, undertaking general housekeeping duties, including some direct patient contact, to help provide a quality service.
You must have an eye for detail and a desire to provide a pleasant and safe environment for our patients. The successful candidates will have a positive and caring attitude and be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the service.
To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as role models in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.
Successful candidates will be reliable, flexible and good team players with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure that cleanliness is maintained within all areas of the department and undertake necessary general domestic work.
* Understand the importance of infection control, undertaking any training as necessary.
* Keep all public and clinical areas clean and tidy to expected standard as required in the department cleaning audit framework.
* Keep all storage areas clean and neat and promote a safe working environment.
* Liaise with department cleaner to identify any additional cleaning requirements within the department and participate in the cleaning audit process.
* Check linen allocation daily, report any problems to the Theatre Coordinator and liaise with the linen room to rectify problems.
* Ensure dirty linen is bagged and disposed of correctly.
* Undertake Fire Safety Training and orientate staff in the whereabouts of fire exits and fire extinguishers.
* Collect and deliver within the hospital any items that are required for the department (e.g., CSSD, loading bay, wards, pharmacy).

Travelling to work
Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours.
The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect.
The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 (from P&R) to 20:45 (from NNUH) and this service is free for NHS staff. There is a regular Thickthorn P&R service as well which is free. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. We also have a discounted service from the airport P&R if you purchase a bundle.
The NNUH hosts multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite.
