Job Summary
Vernova Healthcare is recruiting an enthusiastic, self-motivated bank Sonographer to join our friendly ultrasound team. Our priority is to ensure patient-focused NHS services, providing safe, effective care within a community setting.
Ultrasound clinics are delivered from sites within Eastern Cheshire using updated GE ultrasound equipment:
* Macclesfield Health Hub & East Cheshire Trust
* Knutsford & District Community Hospital
* Congleton Memorial Hospital
* Handforth Clinic
The successful candidate will work independently across these sites and as part of a wider team, with healthcare assistants supporting sessions. We promote effective communication and regular clinical updates.
Main duties of the job
* Perform and report on non-obstetric ultrasound examinations to high standards, following guidelines.
* Assess referral suitability and prioritize based on urgency.
* Provide high-quality patient care in a safe environment.
* Conduct general abdominal, pelvic, small parts, and MSK ultrasounds (if trained).
* Work independently, interpreting and reporting scans.
* Use CRIS system for reporting as per SOPs.
* Participate in clinical governance, audits, and team development.
* Deliver compassionate, individualized patient care.
* Maintain professional development and regulatory compliance.
Person Specification
Essential Experience:
* NHS Sonographer experience
* Independent ultrasound practice
* CPD evidence
* Effective feedback and communication skills
* Understanding of Sonography principles
Desirable Experience:
* MSK and Head & Neck experience
* Multi-modality knowledge
* Community NHS service experience
Qualifications:
* BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Imaging or DCR PG Dip in Medical Ultrasound
* HCPC/NMC registration
Skills & Knowledge:
* Ultrasound examination knowledge
* Clinical governance understanding
* Confidentiality and data protection
* Effective communication and teamwork
* Manual dexterity with equipment
Specific Job Requirements:
* Adherence to College of Radiographers Code of Conduct
Membership of Society of Radiographers is desirable.
This role requires a DBS check and current UK professional registration.
