About us
We are seeking an exceptional Teacher of Computing and ICT with strong leadership skills to drive forward Computing, ICT, and Digital Literacy across KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of our department, ensuring high-quality teaching and outstanding student outcomes.
The ideal applicant will have the ability to teach Computer Science or ICT to a high standard across multiple key stages. We are looking for a leader with exceptional subject knowledge, who is analytical, adaptable, and detail-oriented. Our department consistently achieves strong results in Computer Science, ICT, and Business, performing above national averages at KS4 and KS5 and achieving FFT5 consistently in Computer Science. We require a leader with a clear vision for continuous improvement and the ability to think strategically in preparation for future curriculum changes in Computing and ICT.
As a department, we are passionate about enhancing students' computing skills, and we are proud of the increasing numbers choosing Computing at KS4 and KS5. We also offer a range of extra-curricular opportunities, including Coding and Robotics Clubs and a Retro Gaming Club.

The successful candidate will:
1. Provide inspirational leadership so that all students make exceptional progress
2. Be an outstanding, passionate and highly motivated teacher with a proven track record of examination success across key stages 4 and 5
3. Analyse progress and attainment data to make data-driven changes to curriculum design, and pupil interventions
4. Develop innovative schemes of work which are inspiring for learners and teachers alike and feed into assessments
5. Create and sustain a positive department culture, where staff feel collectively supported and developed
6. Play an integral role in the development of our outstanding middle leadership team

Heanor Gate Spencer Academy is an ‘Outstanding’ secondary school and sixth form (Ofsted, June 2023) which is oversubscribed in Year 7 for the second successive year.
