This exciting post will be based in our resource provision which is located in the heart of our school building. The resource area consists of two large classrooms, a sensory space, calm spaces and an inviting outdoor area. This role would entail leading our resource class catering for 14 students with special educational needs and leading a group of highly skilled and proactive SEN teaching assistants. About the Role: As the class teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a bespoke curriculum and learning opportunities to children who move between their mainstream class and the resourced provision, depending on their need. Our resource provision provides a warm, supportive, structured and therapeutic environment where every child's individual needs are met. Key responsibilities include: Planning and delivering engaging, adapted lessons to meet the needs of pupils Implementing structured teaching approaches, including visual aids and sensory support, to facilitate learning. Supporting children in developing both academic, social and life skills, promoting independence and confidence. Managing behaviour positively and effectively, reinforcing and developing personalised strategies. Working closely with our two SENDCOs and a range of external professionals to provide the best support for each pupil. Liaising with parents/carers and other professionals to provide consistent communication and progress updates. Maintaining accurate records of students' progress and participating in regular review meetings. Leading parent/carer meetings and working alongside our two SENDCOs. What we're looking for: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Proven experience working with children with special educational needs in an educational setting (could be mainstream or specialist). A strong understanding of the challenges and rewards of working with children with diverse and complex needs. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with students, staff, and families effectively. Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting the individual needs of each child. Experience in using a range of exciting teaching methods to enthuse and engage learners. Creativity in delivering lessons that inspire and challenge our pupils, enabling them all to make progress across a broad curriculum.
