Due to an upcoming retirement, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Payments Team Leader within Finance Services. The role offers the chance to make a real difference to the Borough, directly supporting the Senior Accountant (Systems) with ongoing service provision, including financial input into the Services business plans and continuing development of the Finance Service as a trusted business partner.
As well as responsibility for the delivery of accurate and robust financial information to support the Council's statutory and business critical financial functions (including Budget Setting, Budget Monitoring, and Closure of Accounts), the role includes:
1. Delivery of accurate and robust financial information to support the Council's statutory and business critical financial functions, including Creditors payment related work and reconciliation work associated with the creditors system.
2. Managing the Financial Processing Team.
3. Input into key Service and Council wide developments and embracing the council's move towards the increased use of technology.
With no two days the same, this is the ideal role for an experienced finance professional seeking a new and varied challenge.
Key activities include:
* Day to day management of the Creditors and Financial Processing Teams.
* The delivery of the following Council processes in accordance with strict statutory deadlines and provide appropriate advice and guidance in respect of:
1. Creditors Payment related work.
2. Reconciliation work associated with the creditors system.
3. Completion and submission of corporate financial and statistical returns.
1. Building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
2. Deputising for the Senior Accountant as required.

The successful candidate will have payments and financial management experience within a large organisation and the ability to work in a pressurised environment, delivering priority work in a timely and accurate manner, and experience of working with senior stakeholders.
