Interim Contracts Lawyer

Pay Rate: £27.71 per hour PAYE
35 Monday - Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 3 months
City: EALING, LONDON
A Contract Lawyer is required to join the team and provide advice on contracts. Advise on and deal with all legal matters relating to UK and EU contract and public procurement law and other general legal matters affecting the Council.
Key Responsibilities:
Give legal advice on and prepare straightforward and complex documentation relating to all contracts and to assist in the development of policy.
Attend committees, working parties and other member level panels or meetings as required and to advise on procedural and specific legal issues.
Instruct counsel as necessary, arrange case conferences and attend to counsel at hearings / inquiries as required.
Manage case work and advise on strategic case management with a view to cost effectiveness.
Represent the Council in meetings with other authorities, government departments and other bodies.
Draft reports and legal implications of reports to Cabinet and committees.
Familiarise and keep up to date with changes in the law and legal practice, and bring this to the attention of relevant client departments.
Key requirements:
An admitted solicitor, a barrister or a legal executive.
Knowledge and understanding of law and procedure relating to contracts and the Private Finance Initiative or ability to acquire the same.
At least two years relevant contracts experience as an admitted solicitor, barrister or a legal executive.
Ability to draft and settle original documents and clauses to give effect to special circumstances and new statutory provisions.
Ability to allocate and supervise the workload of staff in the Contracts team.
