The Role
NHS Lanarkshire has various opportunities for Generic Specialist Practitioner - (Nurse Specialist) - Stroke Thrombectomy/Hyperacute Care.
The post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and delivery of high quality care to hyper acute stroke patients. This will be mainly dealing with those patients who have had an acute stroke and who have presented to the emergency department. The role will include attending stroke inpatient events within the wider hospital. The post holders, working with the stroke consultant, will have responsibility for the management of newly diagnosed stroke patients to facilitate the assessment and treatment of patients suitable for Thrombolysis and Thrombectomy and to ensure compliance with national standards. Effectiveness of the role will be monitored via the Scottish Stroke Care Audit standards and via the embedded annual review of stroke care in the board.
What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Nurse or AHP with valid NMC / HCPC Registration
* Educated to Degree Level
* Post graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 10 (Hons) or working towards
* Expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice
* Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
* Excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology

Permanent
Full time / Part time will be considered.
Please note for part time posts the salary will be pro-rata.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Stroke Thrombectomy/Hyperacute Care across NHS Lanarkshire 3 acute sites.
