To support the Design Team Project Manager with the ‘day to day’ organisation & co-ordination of a dynamic & growing design team.
The team carries out a range of substation design work from 11kV to 132kV, including Primary, Secondary, Protection & control. The role will be wide ranging but will include such responsibilities as resource planning & control, liaison with key members of
projects & providing general administration support to the team.
The role would suit a person who is self-motivated & has a pro-active approach to problem solving. They would preferably have experience of project supervision within a construction type environment. This position would be ideal for a person looking to develop
a career within the electrical power industry.
Main Responsibilities
Assist the design project manager with the planning & control of the design team, including but not limited to the following:
Resource planning & programming.
Liaising between tendering, design engineers, other designers and managers.
Reviewing & monitoring of projects, both programme & financially. Providing reports to the design manager & project managers.
Liaising with the design engineers, other designers, equipment suppliers, project managers, & clients.
Attending project meetings via web-based systems or on-site.
Support design engineers with the management & co-ordination of design works, including submissions to clients.
Person Specification
Qualifications
A minimum of HNC in an engineering, construction, or project management biased course.
A person with a lower qualification level, but who can demonstrate a good working knowledge & experience would be considered.
Experience
Preferably a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the electrical power or other related construction industries.
Cloud based document control systems.
Resource management & control.
Skills
Experience in the use of project management software (e.g. Microsoft Project, Primavera P6)
Experience of working with cloud-based document control platforms.
Knowledge of commercial/contractual issues.
Good written, verbal communication & interpersonal skills.
Good personal management, decision making & problem-solving skills.
Be flexible and adaptable to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
Ability to work within a team environment.
Good computer literacy, including use of Microsoft office-based applications (e.g. word, excel & outlook).
Full UK driving licence.
