We are currently recruiting for a Field Bioinformatics Scientist (FBS) to support our Next Generation Sequencing customers in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). As an FBS, you will provide technical bioinformatics expertise and software support to our Next Generation Sequencing customers, particularly around our Oncology portfolio. Customer inquiries will be received via email. You will act as a trusted guide to our customers, thereby growing customer happiness and loyalty, contributing to the overall success of our business. Essential Functions - Supervise the helpdesk and triage incoming requests to ensure that customer issues are addressed promptly and efficiently. - Provide technical IT or bioinformatics support for Ion Torrent NGS instruments, related hardware, and software products by answering customer technical inquiries in a timely manner. - Escalate issues or problems when warranted. - Participate in training, both new products and continuing education, to remain at the edge of scientific knowledge. - You may be asked to tackle additional tasks as needed. Education Requires an M.Sc./PhD in bioinformatics or IT, or significant experience in this field. Experience A good candidate will have either: - Educational or professional experience in the field of bioinformatics, with in-depth knowledge and usage of bioinformatics software and algorithms for Next Generation Sequencing. - Or, an IT professional background with at least 2-3 years of experience working in a LINUX/UNIX environment, including IT knowledge and basic system administration skills. Additional Skills - Strong problem-solving skills. - Ability to quickly learn large amounts of new, complex technical information. - Ability to efficiently communicate in English to customers and colleagues, both orally and in writing. - Capability to work independently as part of a field-based team. - Scripting experience in a language such as PERL, Python, or R.
