Haematology Locum Consultant Specialising in Lymphoma
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Haematologist with an interest in Lymphoma and General Haematology to join the team at Withybush General hospital. We are looking for a highly committed and motivated individual to join our Haematology team as we start to introduce subspecialisation into the health board. Our dedicated and forward-looking team of 7 consultants provides a comprehensive haematology service across the area. This post will introduce a Lymphoma subspecialty as part of a redesign of haematology services across the Health Board.
Our vision is to provide a future-proof service for our patients to ensure they can be cared for as close to their home as possible.
Main Duties of the Job
Clinical - The appointee should demonstrate experience in the management of Lymphoma and General Haematology. The successful candidate will develop this subspecialty across the health board and work alongside generalist consultants.
Inpatients - The appointee will participate in an attending and on-call rota for the Carmarthen site. At the three peripheral sites, the contribution is consultative to the local medical team.
Outpatients - The appointee will be expected to participate in 3-4 clinics per week, within Lymphoma and General Haematology. Consideration for other subspecialist workload could be considered, depending on the applicant's experience.
There is a weekly health board-wide MDT and opportunities to join other MDTs from all Wales MDTs.
* The appointee is required to have full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice.
* The appointee will contribute to all aspects of general haematology and haemo-oncology work, including participation in departmental meetings and on-call rota.
* 10 Sessions with 1xSPA per week.
* Clinics in other hospital sites will be required (virtual clinics are an option).
* The appointee must help develop our rural service to ensure excellent patient care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
* MBBS or equivalent
* FRCPath or equivalent
* Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD, or MSc or equivalent
* On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date
* Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
Clinical Experience
* Broad-based experience in clinical haematology
* Comprehension of core philosophy and building blocks of Clinical Governance
* Knowledge and participation in CPD
* Competence in clinical haematology
* Expertise in clinical haematology
* Able to apply knowledge
* Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge and experience of communicating bad news
* Meet the requirement of the GMC's "Good Medical Practice"
* Experience of NHS
* Wider experience, research, and training in providing subspecialty service
* Evidence of above-average performance
