About the role
As the Assistant Project Manager, you will sit in the Delivery Team and support the division with finance functions. Below is an outline of your main duties, relevant skills, experience, and training needed for the role:
* Reporting to the client and striving to meet their needs. Ensure the smooth running of the project and work closely with the Programme Manager / Project Manager.
* Ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant completion of work under your control.
* Prepare and produce project RAMS.
* Share best practices across all MWS projects and share resources where necessary.
* Drive performance improvement within the team and encourage new ideas and innovation.
* Manage all plant, materials, and subcontract resources on site as needed.
* Report weekly to the Programme/Project Manager/Client on the status of the Project.
* Ensure compliance with MWS Job Packs and Team Packs.
* Check training certification and competence.
* Complete and submit site audits and close out actions arising. Complete and submit Hazard spots.
* Conduct PPE checks including head protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, gloves, high visibility clothing, and other PPE as required.
* Ensure jobs meet all environmental standards.
* Ensure compliance with NRSWA notices and permit conditions.
* Check signing, lighting, and guarding for NRSWA compliance.
* Ensure all permit conditions are met.
* Address customer issues in accordance with protocol.
* Maintain day-to-day liaison with the Project Manager regarding complaints and queries.
* Respond to the Escalations team within prescribed timescales.
* Ensure compliance with all contract standards.
* Maintain water quality standards, ensuring proper sealing of pipe ends and storage of materials.
* Ensure data integrity of all jobs completed, including random dip testing of data.
* Report any issues or slippages in production rates to your manager.
* Ensure all teams complete required data fields and post necessary photographs.
* Collect, collate, and correctly store all project data and evidence.
* Manage jeopardy of jobs prioritizing those with limited SLA days remaining.
* Develop and maintain key reports to monitor and drive performance.
* Oversee day-to-day compliance management, including problem solving and resolution of issues.
* Ensure jobs are health, safety, quality, and environmentally compliant with legislation, procedures, and standards.
* Notify or escalate any encountered issues or problems to your line manager.
* Promote the highest levels of integrity within the business, demonstrate professionalism, and uphold the MWS code of conduct at all times.
* Engage with Contractors and Highway authorities as needed.
About You:
We value you for who you are, so appropriate formal training and development will be provided. However, we will look favourably if you can demonstrate that you possess the following qualifications:
* Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction.
* Management training such as Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5 or equivalent.
* NEBOSH National Certificate (General or Construction).
* SMSTS.
* Water hygiene.
Experience:
Experience in the water industry is beneficial but not necessary.
Knowledge & Skills:
* Ability to conduct inspections, recommend preventative action, develop new initiatives, and coordinate their implementation.
* Proven ability to deliver against operational targets.
* Commercially aware and engaged.
* Naturally collaborative, able to build relationships with key client and supply chain contacts.
