Science Technician Teaching Personnel are seeking a passionate and skilled Science Technician to join our client school’s team in January 2025. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the science department by ensuring that all practical lessons run smoothly and safely. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing equipment and materials for experiments, maintaining laboratory facilities, and assisting teachers in delivering high-quality science education. The school is situated in Morpeth only a 5-minute walk from the nearest public transport link but also boasts a large onsite car park for members of staff with a vehicle. Key Responsibilities: Preparation of Materials: Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials for practical lessons across various scientific disciplines including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Equipment Maintenance: Regularly check, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is safe for use. This includes conducting routine inspections and repairs as necessary. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to within the laboratory environment. Conduct risk assessments for experiments and maintain an organized inventory of hazardous substances. Support Teaching Staff: Assist teachers during practical lessons by demonstrating techniques or providing additional support to students as needed. Qualifications & Skills Required: A relevant qualification in a science subject (e.g. BTEC Level 3 in Applied Science or equivalent). Previous experience working in a school laboratory setting is preferred but not essential. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
