Our client is a Northampton based company seeking a Technical Product Support Engineer. Job Objectives
The Technical Product Support Engineer is responsible for the technical support within the UK and Ireland. You will maintain and grow business with existing customers through your support and technical expertise.
Main Duties
1. Support our exciting range of products out in the marketplace.
2. Follow up and take ownership of customer queries via telephone, email, online meetings (e.g., MS Teams), and face-to-face meetings.
3. Support high-end and technically advanced solutions to manufacturing companies in the UK and Ireland.
4. Report directly to and initially job shadow the Technical Director.
5. Conduct work in a skilled, safe, and professional manner.
6. Take ownership of challenges and opportunities to their conclusions.
7. Develop skills and set personal goals to fully understand the product applications and services offered.
8. Focus on customers with inefficient or obsolete systems and equipment, updating and introducing the latest range of products and services.
9. Offer technical advice to provide solutions, often thinking “outside-the-box” to develop customized integration solutions for key customers.
10. Edit and write software code files in Visual Basic and .NET, with communications to SQL databases and 3rd party control systems.
11. Develop aftermarket business revenue for spares and service contracts.
12. Manage customers effectively and develop good working relationships to increase business.
13. Travel extensively around the UK and Ireland for customer meetings.
Skill Requirement
1. Strong technical background with a minimum qualification of a recognized Bachelor’s Degree (from a UK University) in either an Engineering or IT related subject, or 10+ years of technical support related job experience.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing industry; experience working within this sector is beneficial.
3. Demonstrate an aptitude and logic for PC-based systems and have advanced experience with Windows-based operating systems.
4. Knowledge of computer coding is necessary; ability to understand/produce post-processing applications in Visual Basic and .NET. SQL database experience is beneficial.
5. Experience with consulting, planning, and implementing technical software integrations or solutions for outside companies is an advantage.
6. Good written and verbal communication skills at all levels to deliver presentations both online and face-to-face.
7. Excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
8. Some mechanical service experience is beneficial, such as service/repair work to machinery or other physical equipment.
9. Located within a 20-mile radius of the Northampton facility.
10. Energy, enthusiasm, drive, and the ability to learn fast to meet company goals.
11. Ability to take ownership of tasks and problems to a conclusion.
12. Self-motivation and ability to work alone in the field as well as part of an office-based team.
13. Smart appearance with a confident business-like manner.
14. Excellent command of the English language is essential.
15. Hold a full UK driving licence for at least 5 years.

Supported by their team of experienced sales, technical, and admin staff, full product and service training will be provided. Ability to be flexible in the day-to-day role to meet the needs of the company. As part of this role, you will gain exposure working with some of the world’s largest manufacturing companies in sectors such as Aerospace, Military/Defence, Automotive, Energy/Oil/Gas, and Medical/Scientific.
Remuneration
Starting basic salary will depend on qualifications and experience from £35k-£42k + Bonus. A suitable company car will be provided along with business expenses via company credit card, annual profit share bonus, company pension, corporate clothing, 25 days annual holiday, mobile phone, and laptop PC.
