Job summary An opportunity has arisen, for an experienced social worker to join Greenwich CAMHS supporting the early identification of young people up to age 18 with mental health vulnerabilities within the youth justice system. The role aims to reduce custodial sentences for vulnerable young people through effective screening and early interventions. This will involve working closely with Criminal Justice stakeholders, including the Police and Courts, to assist with decision-making and intervention planning. While working across Greenwich Youth Offending Service and Greenwich CAMHS Adolescent Team, the post holder will independently manage a caseload, maintaining safe and effective clinical practice. Main duties of the job To conduct rapid screening and assessments for young people detained at the Police Station to identify emotional, mental health, or social needs. These assessment will inform police charging decisions with the aim of diverting young people from the criminal justice system. Engage with young people released without screening, offering community-based support. Conduct home visits for those not screened in custody, particularly if No Further Action (NFA) is taken. Provide risk assessment and management for young people referred to the YJLD service with mental health issues, neurodevelopmental conditions, conduct disorders, or other vulnerabilities. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners. Work alongside senior colleagues to provide clinical leadership.
