The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager with the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and with the accuracy and timeliness of the complete and systematic set of records for all financial transactions of all corporations.
Departmental Expectations
o Maintains competency through ongoing training and education including mandatory hospital in-services yearly.
o Review and approve accounting personnel prepared documents.
o Review reconciling general ledger account balances.
o Responsible for the accurate reporting and processing of contract labor staff for all companies.
o Work with Accounting team members on Retirement Association work, including preparing financial statements, audit work, and presentation at BOD meetings.
o Assist Accounting Manager and other team members on monthly expense variance analysis.
o Assist the Accounting Manager with preparation of the monthly financial statements for all corporations.
o Distribute financial reporting monthly to Administrators and department managers in a timely manner, and address all questions, concerns, comments.
o Monitor account balances and investigate those that appear unusual.
o Assist with all annual audit, tax return and cost reports for all corporations.
o Ensure compliance and timely filing of external reporting.
o Prepare necessary journal entries and submit to Accounting Manager for approval.
o Complete special projects as directed by the Accounting Manager, Director of Finance, and Chief Financial Officer.
o Exercises independent judgment in monitoring for red flags regarding identity theft prevention.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
License/Certifications: N/A
Experience: 3 to 5 years’ experience in accounting. Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
